Source, not certainty

Origin terminology

A country name without its basis is incomplete. Every origin statement says who made it and from what evidence.

Supplier stated

The supplier named the place. We preserve the exact claim and its source; repetition does not verify it.

Recorded in acquisition or import documents

The document is identified and dated. It records what that document says, not an instrument result.

Our assessment

A named person assessed the evidence. It remains an assessment and carries its confidence and limitations.

Laboratory reported

The listing identifies the laboratory, report number, date and verification route. Origin is still the laboratory’s opinion from its reference data, not a direct measurement of birthplace.

Unknown or conflicting

Unknown is a complete answer. Where sources disagree, each remains visible and the page does not force a single country for convenience.

Origin is not policy

A place name does not itself create a sanctions or sourcing conclusion. Transaction controls come from separately approved, dated policy records that identify whether the basis is law, processor, carrier, insurance or company policy.
