Cut stone
0.98ct Alexandrite, Strong Colour Change
0.98 ct · Alexandrite
Hematita alexandrite with a change strong enough to see across a room.
$31,800
$32,448.98 per carat · AUD, GST included where applicable
Stones above $5,000 are sold by arrangement rather than through the basket. Above that value no ordinary courier will both carry and insure a loose stone, so carriage goes through a specialist service and is quoted for your destination — and settlement is by bank transfer, which keeps the card fee off a sum this size.
The person who answers is the person who owns the stone.
- Sent by a specialist insured service, quoted for your destination.
- Seven days from delivery to inspect and return for a full refund.
- One of a kind — when it sells it is gone, and the listing stays up as a record.
About this stone
Alexandrite is priced on the completeness of its colour change before anything else, and under a carat the good ones are already difficult. This stone reads a clear bluish green in daylight and goes to a raspberry purple-red under incandescent, with an estimated 80% change and no muddiness in between.
From Hematita in Minas Gerais, called by GIA. Slightly included under 10×; the inclusions do not disturb the face-up appearance in either light.
Photographed in both lights — see the gallery. Any alexandrite photographed in only one light is telling you half a story.
