About this stone

Colour-change garnet from the Bekily belt does something almost no other garnet does — it reads blue-green in daylight. Under incandescent it swings to a purple-red. The change is complete and quick, and at this saturation it is visible without hunting for it.

Untreated. A far cheaper way to own a proper colour-change stone than alexandrite, and in daylight arguably the more interesting colour.

How big it actually is

ANY BANK CARD
The stone’s 7.1 × 6mm outline, drawn to the same scale as a bank card. Hold one against the screen and the stone beside it is life size — if the card does not match, zoom until it does. The outline is the idealised shape rather than this stone’s own profile; the photographs are the stone.

Treatment & certification

Unheated

No heat and no other treatment of any kind. Bought at source, so the heat status is known rather than assumed.

How we know

Untreated. Not laboratory tested — garnet takes no colour treatment that holds, and none is used commercially on this material.

Certification available on request$650

We’ll send this stone to GIA, SSEF, Gübelin, GRS or Lotus and it ships with the report. Add it at checkout — the stone and the report are paid for together, the stone then goes to the laboratory, and nothing is dispatched until the report is back. Allow three to six weeks.

We use the international laboratories rather than local ones, which is the point of paying for it.

Every listing on this site states its treatment, including when the honest answer is that we don’t know. How we describe stones.
