Stones above $5,000 are sold by arrangement rather than through the basket. Above that value no ordinary courier will both carry and insure a loose stone, so carriage goes through a specialist service and is quoted for your destination — and settlement is by bank transfer, which keeps the card fee off a sum this size.
The person who answers is the person who owns the stone.
- Sent by a specialist insured service, quoted for your destination.
- Seven days from delivery to inspect and return for a full refund.
- One of a kind — when it sells it is gone, and the listing stays up as a record.
About this stone
Unheated blue sapphire from Elahera, certified by GRS with origin and no indications of heating. The colour is a medium-tone cornflower with strong saturation and no zoning visible face-up — the window that opens under a torch closes completely in normal light, which is as much as one can ask of a stone cut to keep weight.
The cut is a native mixed cut with a brilliant crown over a step pavilion, re-polished by us on the table and a small area of the girdle. Extinction is minimal for the shape. Eye clean; under 10× there are fine silk needles consistent with an unheated Sri Lankan origin, and they are part of why the report reads the way it does.
